Desi and I go way back to when we were third graders playing Pee-Wee football. Though there was a period where we got disconnected, we are now closer than ever attending the same high school as well as carpooling together. Desi’s superior skill and dedication were evident at even a young age, and even more so in his latter years as he became the MVP of the freshman team and now a starting running back on the varsity team. Such dedication comes at a price though as he hurt his hamstring. As this was one of his first major injuries, Desi talks about the feeling of hopelessness as well as anxiety in being able to return to top shape. Desi’s way forward is to focus on physical therapy, stretch and strengthen his muscle groups, and look towards good nutrition to stay healthy in the future.
